The youth camps preparation begins in early November. The camps are open for registration from the launch in November to mid February. Places are limited and registration is processed on a first come, first served basis. Register for a camp.
The participants of youth camps have to pay their travel expenses (airfare and cancellation & repatriation insurance). The price of a camp varies according to the destination. It costs between CHF 1'300.- and 1'800.- per person. The price of a camp is to be paid in two times. First a deposit is made at the end of February then the balance is due at the end of May. Subsistence costs (food, accommodation, local travels and miscellaneous) are covered by the fundraising actions of the group implemented during the preparation period (read Organisation of camps). Generally, fundraising covers a part of the budget of the aid project in which the group will be involved. Nouvelle Planète provides the additional funding if necessary. Between the beginning of the preparation period and the end of February, the participants can withdraw from a group without paying any fee. Then, a cancellation fee will be charged.
Besides the cost of the camp, other costs are supported by the participant. Nouvelle Planète advises to plan a budget for:
- Travels to the meetings or group actions, including the transfer to the airport on the day of departure,
- Fees to obtain a passport and/or a visa,
- Costs of vaccination, prevention health, and emergency kit.
Funding for general operating expenses of Nouvelle Planète in Switzerland and in the South is covered by specific grants. The money raised by participants of the camps is not used to cover operating expenses.
