What is a constituted group camp?
If you are a family or a group of students, friends, scouts, employees of the same company or inhabitants of the same village, members of a parish, or others, you may be interested in this proposal. Nouvelle Planète can organize a specific camp for your constituted group. The camp can take place at any period of the year according the availability of our partners in the South.
Conditions of participation
The constituted group leader signs a contract with Nouvelle Planète. Thus, she/he is responsible for the group, and the respect of the conditions of participation.
The following conditions should be filled and accepted by the constituted group:
- Request the constitution of a camp for your group at least 7 months prior to departure
- Mobilize a group of at least 10 members
- All members should benefit from physical and psychological dispositions required to bear the difficulties and the risks implied by a stay in a poor country (diseases, climate can be very hot and humid, begging, etc)
- Participate actively in group actions to carry out the objectives of the preparation (in Switzerland)
- Pay the camp fee on time.
- Possess basic knowledge in French or English, depending on the destination.
- Accept and put into practice the vision of Nouvelle Planète for the involvement in the South, as illustrated in the document entitled « La NPattitude pour échanger avec l'Autre ». This document addresses the rules of conduct that will help the participant to exchange with others.
- Accept the charter of Nouvelle Planète .
Regarding the age of members, the leader of the constituted group should define an age limit. Generally, participants are at least 15 years old at the time of departure.
Organisation
Nouvelle Planète supervises all phases of the camp: the preparation period, the travel to the host country, the return and feedback period. The team of Nouvelle Planète in Lausanne and the field coordinators combine an experience of more than 25 years in camp organisation.
In Switzerland, the team organises the preparation meetings (all participants or animators only), and makes the flights reservation. Nouvelle Planète also subscribes to a liability insurance (in case of damages caused to others during group preparation or camp activities), and to a cancellation-repatriation insurance, for all participants. Someone of the Nouvelle Planète team follows the group preparation (gives advices, attends certain meetings, reads over minutes of meetings, etc).
In the host country, the field coordinator of Nouvelle Planète (Nouvelle Planète office or local partner) is responsible of the organisation of the camp. He/she welcomes your group and introduces the members to the local partners. The field coordinator is reachable 24/7 during the period of the camp. On the long term, he/she plans and follows the aid project supported by the Swiss group.
The group leader supervises and animates the constituted group as usual. He/she keeps the group lively, motivates the members, encourage initiatives, and coordinates actions. The leader maintains regular internal (between group members) and external (with Nouvelle Planète) communications. He/she will follow a 2 to 3-day training organized by Nouvelle Planète during the preparation period.
Costs and Deadline
The price of the camp varies according to the destination and the period of travel. The constituted group pays for all costs. Airfare is between CHF 1'100.- and 1'900.- per person and on site costs (food, accommodation, transportation, miscellaneous) are between CHF 500.- and 800.-. The price of a camp (airfare + on site costs) is to be paid in two times. First, a down payment is made 5 months prior to departure. Then, the balance is due 2 months before the departure date.
The group also covers part of the cost of the aid project supported (minimum CHF 5'000.-). Nouvelle Planète provides the additional funding.
The fundraising actions of the group cover partly or fully the cost of the aid project. Nouvelle Planète provides the additional funding.
Between the beginning of the preparation period and 5 months before the departure, members can withdraw from a group or the group can cancel the camp without paying any fee. Then, a cancellation fee will be charged.
Besides the cost of the camp, other costs are supported by the participant. Nouvelle Planète advises to plan a budget for costs linked to:
- Travels for meetings or group actions, including the transfer to the airport on the day of departure,
- Fees to obtain a passport and/or a visa,
- Costs of vaccination, prevention health, and emergency kit.
Funding for general operating expenses of Nouvelle Planète in Switzerland and in the South is covered by specific grants. The money raised by constituted groups is not used to cover operating expenses.
Countries of destinationThe countries of destination are the same as the destination of youth and adult/elder camps organised by Nouvelle Planète. Click here to find the list of the countries of destination. If you are interested, please contact us! We would be delighted to discuss your project. |
